Make a Pressing Ham (Easy Sewing)
Please enjoy this ham. It’s not for dinner, but it is a big hit among our sewing students.
A ham is a tightly stuffed pillow. It’s called a ham because, well, it’s shaped like a ham. It’s used to press curved areas. This allows a garment to better fit body contours. A ham is cotton on one side, wool on the other. Use the cotton side for cotton or cotton blend fabrics. Use the wool side for wool. Steam from an iron excites the wool’s fibers and keeps your fabric from getting a shiny spot.
It’s a must for tailoring and to give your garments a professional press. And it’s fun to make.
Make this ham, then bring it to your Tailoring class!
